Hello parents! I have a deep connection to community due to my Nigerian upbringing where the community comes together to cultivate children who are compassionate, considerate and competent. This practice allowed for me, Uyai- Abasi Otuekong Ukut to take part in child rearing from an early age taking care of 2 of my siblings, my mostly nonverbal autistic brother, cousins and family friends. In this time, I also volunteered as a church youth organiser where I appreciated working with children from 2 to 16 years old. There I gained the skill of engaging children with the task at hand and organising them events like choir practice, bible recitals and excursions.
I am now in my 5th year of medical school at POTE, due to my fondness to be part of the community, I leaped at opportunity to volunteer my time at ‘Kiddi-care kindergarten’ based in Pécs. I was proud and excited to take part in the growth of language skills, interpersonal skills and learning of important life lessons through fun play in the children. There I served breakfast and lunch for the children and enjoyed playing with them, teaching English and learning Hungarian in return. In addition, I was able to engage with children with special needs as well and expand my knowledge of care creating a more well rounded view.
As a person, I am enthusiastic about art and scientific research thus would savour the opportunity to share my knowledge while nurturing your children. I am a kind hearted, consistent and vibrant person with a strong rich soul. I believe it is important to be delicate and deliberate with the future generation so as to raise people with human centered values. I look forward to working with you and your children and learning from them!
